The city of New Orleans offers more Irish Pubs than most would think. Some of them are fantastic with an abundance of history while just a couple of them aren't too great. One thing to be said about the colorful city of New Orleans is that for the most part: it's one hell of a fun place to visit! Here are the top 5 Irish Pubs for you to step foot into the next time you hang out in the Big Easy.
#5. Parasol's. (Garden District)
2533 Constance Street
Guinness Tag: $6.00 | Overall Rating: 8.20

With a unique name and a friendly base of regulars, Parasol's offers a cozy atmosphere along with their very popular dish, the Roast Beef Po'boy. If you're staying in a hotel along the Bourbon Street area then getting here is part of the fun experience, as the streetcar ride through Magazine Street is quite beautiful.
Parasol's offers almost everything you could want when it comes to having fun, such as slot machines, a jukebox, tasty food, and Coca-Cola. There are enough TVs for gamedays but not too many whereas it takes away from the overall aura. When you ask a local or New Orleans native where you should go in regard to an Irish Pub, many of them will tell you Parasol's. We listened to them, we took their word for it, and we agree.
#4. Pat O'Brien's.
718 St. Peter Street
Guinness Tag: $7.00 | Overall Rating: 8.55

Pat O'Brien's has quite a neat and long history attached to it. It was a speakeasy during the prohibition, however, once that came to an end, Mr. Pat O'Brien himself turned it into a legal drinking establishment in 1933. It's a magnificent Pub with a stunning atmosphere. It does come with a few flaws, though.
There's no Guinness on tap, it's a bit of a wallet buster, and there's no way around it; you will be surrounded by obnoxiously loud tourists everywhere you turn. Don't get the wrong idea; it's a great Pub with a breathtaking patio. If you can manage to get here right when they open and have a little bit of breathing room, then you'll really get to indulge in the place's charm. If you come any later than that, then you can at least still enjoy the live piano bar. It surely has the eye candy, but most of the time the best way to rate an Irish Pub is by rating it on the amount of Craic it pushes out. O'Briens definitely gets a recommendation, however, if you hate being stuffed in a room with the general public then A). don't go to New Orleans, and B). don't make it a "must" to go to O'Brien's.
#3. The Boondock Saint.
731 St. Peter Street
Guinness Tag: $7.00 | Overall Rating: 9.00

When you notice that a Pub is named after a movie you instantly think, "well this is going to be gimmicky and touristy." Believe it or not, The Boondock Saint just might provide the best Craic throughout all of New Orleans. The exposed brick, worn in furniture, unique signage, and incredibly chill atmosphere give it a great vibe. It's a good industry bar and the bartenders are going to know if you're a tourist before you can even plop your potato on a barstool. They may even buy you a shot if you're not an a-hole.
They serve Guinness the right way and they play the Boondock Saints movie on repeat throughout the day. They opened their doors in 2006 after a couple of cops decided to open a Pub together, hence all the cop patches everywhere. If you come at the right time, then you very well may overdose on all of the Craic!
#2. Finn McCool's. (Mid-City)
3701 Banks Street
Guinness Tag: $6.50 | Overall Rating: 9.00

Named after a bad-ass Irish warrior from way back in time, this Pub offers a bright and colorful vibe with beautiful curb appeal. The locals flock here, and the regulars are very nice and engaging people (for the most part). There are a couple of rooms inside and while both are charming in their own ways, each offer different ways to hang out.
The front entrance has the long L-Shaped bar and high-top tables overlooking it, while the back room offers a pool table, a jukebox, a tidy toiletry, and many tables for gatherings. The music is often pretty good with an assortment of Irish classics from Dropkick Murphys to The Dubliners. It can get a little loud when it fills up, however, if you're looking for the Craic and to have some fun, this place delivers the duty!
#1. Erin Rose.
