A tiny and intimate Pub resting along Main Street in the quaint downtown area of Franklin. The city is named after Benjamin Franklin and its home to both the bloodiest battle in the Civil War and an embarrassing music video from Justin Bieber. McCreary's has an inviting storefront with charming curb appeal. There's a well kept awning and a tiny patio for people watching.

The place used to be an alleyway. Along the brick walls you'll find wooden spickets where people used to tie their horses to. It was made into a pizza joint and after a few years of rolling dough it was eventually turned into McCreary's.

They poured their first Guinness in 2002. It's been locally owned and operated ever since and the current owner actually started out as one of the waitresses before purchasing the Pub from the original owners. Many of the locals typically call it "The Pub".

The small and tight squeeze is kind of what makes the place fun and unique. The bar only holds 4 people and the max capacity of the entire place is just 49 people! It certainly gives guests an intimate experience. They pour their Guinness the right way and they even give you an unrequested Shamrock in the head most of the time. There's a guestbook on the counter which we signed and we encourage you to leave your imprint if you happen to stumble in as well.

The dining room is filled with rustic furniture, exposed brick, and worthy wall decor. Along the wall just shy of the ceiling you'll find a prayer from St. Patrick alongside nicely placed crown Moulding. There's a fun blowup Guinness Tucan, nicely picked out bar mirrors, and unique light fixtures. They provide food for the hungry travelers that seems to be made with TLC. The Bangers and Mash looked fantastic.

The bar itself is a bit cluttered and when you're up by the taps it's obviously very easy to feel cramped and caved in if a few people walk by. One notable thing about the place is that their toilets are placed on a ledge above the floor, leaving you feeling like a King or Queen as you plop your potato.

McCreary's is a charming spot that scratches the Irish itch. There's not a lot going on and it may never blow you away with anything in particular. It's what every small town needs and it's certainly worthy of a recommendation.
