Sharonville, Ohio is a good little pocket of land that often gets brushed to the side. The hard-working locals are accommodating and quite polite. This little city has a few good spots to hang out, however, their Irish Pub lacks in many things unfortunately.
If you're looking for craic then McCauly's won't be your answer. If you're looking for a nice and clean atmosphere with good furniture then McCauly's will not be delivering on your wishes yet again. If you're searching for a good pour of Guinness and a decent whiskey selection then... well... McCauly's is still not your place.
For $6 you'll almost certainly get an embarrassing Bishop's Collar. Quite frankly, their Guinness pours make Bishop's Collars look rather decent. The regular's go-to drinks consist of light beer, well liquor, and boilermakers. The demographics are middle to upper aged blue collar workers in the middle to lower class. They love playing Keno and they love watching the Bengals (who-dey!). One thing about McCauly's is that you'll never seem to be short on a fun conversation; the people here have a knack for quick jokes and friendly conversing.
There is an inexpensive food menu that consists of typical bar snacks but you're not going to find anything authentically Irish here. At the end of the day; McCauly's is a fun neighborhood bar where the locals unwind and have a blast together after a long day/workweek (absolutely nothing wrong with that). There are pool tables, a stage for live music, TVs, soft tip darts, and a couple of steel tip dart boards that look like they've seen a better day. If you're one that likes to get lucky with the numbers then you'll be a happy gambler here.
If you're an Irish Pub enthusiast and you're in the mood for an authentic Irish Pub experience then don't bother coming to McCauly's. It's pretty dirty and cluttered, it's outdated, the bathrooms aren't the cleanest, the Guinness pours are well below average, you'll never find a brogue behind the counter, and you're not going to find many options outside of light beer and <$40 bottles.
Perhaps one day the lovely locals of Sharonville will be blessed with an authentic Irish Pub because they certainly deserve one. However, they do have a fun sports bar with outgoing bartenders in McCauly's and sometimes that's all ya need. Slainte' to you, Sharonville!
