If laid back could be defined by a Pub; Fahy's would be it. Their first pint was poured in 1992 just a stone's throw away from Bourbon Street. It's one of the only Irish Pubs in all of New Orleans that offer both Steel Tip Dart boards as well as Pool Tables. Not only that... but they supply two of each as well! The regulars here love their pool and you'll notice that the dart boards don't get a whole lot of love. As a matter of fact; when we started throwing on one of the dart boards ourselves (which was beat to ever living death), one of the regulars said to us "this is the first time I've ever seen anyone throw a dart in here". There's a strong base of dedicated people here who love Fahy's and will probably fight me for calling out any blemishes about the place; which I freaking love.

The place offers patrons all of the old school classics to allow everyone to forget about life for a bit. You'll find slot machines, a few TVs, a cigarette machine, and some other fun nick-nacks to keep you occupied. Nothing here is fancy or in great condition by any means; but who cares? If you're someone who's looking for a proper Pub with impeccable service and fine food then this one's not for you.

The bar itself is a nice horseshoe bar that allows about 15 people to bend the elbows. Its got an average whiskey selection for the sippers and enough beer choices to keep the gulpers gulping gladly. The hungry bar guests will find some potato chips for snacking and those drinking light beer will find access to a tiny toilet that flushes on command. Biggest gripe about the place? They pour their $7.00 Guinness in the miniature/gimmicky pint glasses.

For those of us searching for the Craic; you'll find it here at times. Like many Pubs, you have to come at the right time for an ample amount of Craic. Perhaps with Fahy's you may have to have a little more luck on your side and hope that you come at the right time because the Craic isn't always going to be prominent here. The bartenders seem to be great and will open up to anyone who isn't a prick, and the regulars will reciprocate the way you treat them. So yes, it's there if you are someone who can seek it, however, it may not be readily available for those who expect it to fizzle out of thin air. You might have to work a little bit for the Craic in this place! (Fine by us).

The music caters well to the industry folks and the TVs will have whatever game the crowd demands on (the Saints are popular here). The pool players are supplied with old school lockers to store their cues and the ceiling tiles supply those who gaze a good gaze. The bartenders are great with explaining any tidbits about the area to noninhabitants and the furniture is worthy for those of all sizes.

Fahy's won't tickle everyone's fancy but it surely tickled ours. We love places like these and if we visit New Orleans again then there's a heck of a good chance that we'll be back. Thanks for the good time, Fahy's; we had fun!
