Sitting in the Capitol of Ohio you'll find Dempsey's and its Irish flags along High Street. You're greeted with nice curb appeal; a quaint patio alongside an elegant little foyer upon entry. It's a rustic building with brick walls and a proper counter. There's certainly warmth and coziness between these walls.

They say they serve American fare with Irish flair and it's evidently true. Even though they're Man-City fans they did an impeccable job mixing the Irish and American cultures together while staying heavy on the Irish side of things.

It was a warm and sunny Saturday morning while we stopped in for brunch and the 2 bartenders were as hospitable as anyone could be. They recommended the Reuben so of course we indulged. I typically don't put much emphasis on a Pub's food but holy smokes did this Reuben deliver the duty. I hate when people say "this is the best burger/sandwich I've ever had" but if I'm going to be frank; this very well may be the best Reuben I've ever dug my teeth into. The tenderness, the gooeyness, the steaminess, and the marble rye crispiness is still lingering in my thoughts. They have inspired me to start a "Best Reuben" tracker on The Drunken Mallard website; let's see if anyone will ever compare down the road.

The Guinness pour was average after a $6 handshake. The whiskey selection gets the job done and of course they have Paddy's. There's a fun mini leg lamp in the middle of the bar and proper light fixtures behind the bar. You'll typically always find some sort of floral scenery throughout the year whether it's on the bar-counter itself or on the patio during the summer.

The wall decor is authentic with a mix of soccer/sports, flags, pictures of people, fun Guinness signs, and guitars. There's a small stage in the corner by the window for live folk music. There are enough TVs for gamedays but not enough to make the place seem like a BDUBS wannabe. They offer a private room in the back for gatherings and they also provide toiletries for those drinking light beer. The loo was clean, tidy, and stocked when I went in for a tinkle.

As I always say; the best time to go to an Irish Pub is when the sun is still shining. I recommend you do the same. A good Irish Pub can make the world stop for a while and allow you to forget about everything going on outside the door and enjoy everything going on right in-front of you. Dempsey's gets that job done. Will you overdose on the craic? Nope. Will you leave screaming "that was the best Irish Pub ever"? No. However, you can bet yer' bottom dollar that Dempsey's will deliver on a satisfying day drinking experience and will leave you saying "yes, that hit the spot".

Well done, Dempsey's. A tip of the hat to you! Slainte!
