Every year the Cincinnati Reds take a few players, coaches, and management staff throughout Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Kentucky to visit schools, radio stations, and public spots on what they call "The Reds Caravan". Over the past weekend Mr. Red, accompanied by Frankie Montas, Tommy Thrall, Rhett Lowder and Corky Miller made a stop at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio where a young fan unexpectedly ran up to Mr. Red and gave him a devastating blow to his throwing hand.
As the medical team rushed him to the emergency room we asked Mr. Red how he was feeling and he replied "...things like this happen, it's part of the job. Is it unfortunate? Absolutely, but we'll see what the diagnosis is and take it from there."
"Can we expect any charges placed on the young fan?" a local reporter asked. "No, he has every right to give me and anyone here a high-five" replied Mr. Red.
Opening Day is less than 2 months away and fans will be expecting Mr. Red on the first baseline during pregame warm-ups. We'll keep you up to date on the team's set back upon further notice as we head into Spring Training.
Slainte.
